Junpei Takano International Plant Molecular Biology Conference 2024

Junpei Takano

I obtained a Ph.D. in 2004 at The University of Tokyo under the supervision of Toru Fujiwara where we identified boron transport proteins in Arabidopsis. During the Ph.D. course I also studied under the supervision of Nico von Wirén at Hohenheim University, Germany (2002-2003). As a postdoctoral researcher, I studied the regulatory mechanisms of boron transport in plants with Toru Fujiwara in Tokyo, and zinc transport in yeast with David Eide at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I then worked as an assistant professor at Hokkaido University, focusing mainly on the endocytic trafficking of boron transport proteins (2008-2016). Since 2016, I have led my own lab at Osaka Prefecture University (Osaka Metropolitan University since 2022), focusing on the regulatory mechanisms of nutrient acquisition and their application to agriculture.
