Mick is Principal Research Fellow, jointly funded by the Dept Primary Industries and Regional Development (WA) and the University of WA. Mick was awarded an ARC Future Fellowship in 2018 and has led over AU$6M competitive research funds. He is an Assoc/ Editor of three major international journals and a member of the OGTR Gene Technology Technical Advisory Committee.
Mick's lab has major research interests in plant quiescence and dormancy. These traits underpin the plant body plan, growth rate and yield, and seasonal changes in growth. Quiescence enables plasticity to tree crop production in the face of changing seasons and climates. In particular, our work has revealed important roles for cellular redox and oxygen signalling in the perception and transduction of environmental cues in grapevine development.
