Thatiane Mota
Thatiane R. Mota was born in Brazil and obtained her PhD in 2019 in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the State University of Maringá (Brazil), jointly with the University of York (United Kingdom). She studied plant cell wall biosynthesis and genetic engineering of grass cell walls for improved biomass saccharification. In 2020, she joined Wout Boerjan’s group at VIB Center for Plant Systems Biology (Belgium) for postdoctoral research. Since then, she is focusing on the use of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing on engineering of phenolic metabolism, and using analytical chemistry for compositional analysis of cell walls. Additionally, she had developed expertise in translational plant biotechnology research, including establishing field trials with lignin engineered plants, as well as management and data analysis.
