Aishwarya R Shankhapal
Aishwarya Shankhapal is a PhD candidate with the Graduate Centre for International Agriculture at the University of Nottingham. She holds an MSc from Savitribai Phule Pune University in India. After completing her MSc, she worked at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), India, as a junior research fellow.Now her research interest is to understand the regulation of mesocotyl elongation in rice, which is a trait that is important for seedling establishment when direct seeding. Furthermore, she is also intending to explore the genetic basis underlying this elongation phenomenon by the utilizing omics platform. Her current research focuses on elucidating the anatomical structure of the mesocotyl in ‘long’ and ‘short’ mesocotyl rice germplasm and the genetic basis underlying this phenomenon.
