Muhammad Arslan Mahmood
Muhammad Arslan Mahmood is a PhD candidate working on fungal disease management, with a focus on Leptosphaeria maculans, the causal agent of blackleg disease. He has recently joined the Millar group at the Future Crops Training Centre, The Australian National University (ANU), where he works under the supervision of Julian Greenwood. His PhD project mainly involves genetic engineering work to combat this devastating fungal disease, with various objectives including modification of negative regulators of the canola and enhancing resistance through modifying the resistance (R) genes.
He completed his M.Phil. in Biotechnology from National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Pakistan in 2021 and earned his Bachelor’s in plant pathology with distinction from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), Pakistan.
